Welcome to the Terrordome #27 “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors”

Today’s movie is 1987’s “ANOES – Dream Warriors”.

  • It’s one of the better sequels of the series, followed by “A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master” and “Wes Craven’s New Nightmare”.
  • Freddy, while showing some humor now, is quite fearful. Thankfully, in this sequel, he is able to be both funny and scary without sacrificing one for the other.
  • “Welcome to prime time, bitch” and “Let’s get high” are still classic lines from this film.
  • Speaking of the latter quote, seeing the heroin pastules as open, sucking mouths is hard-hitting and would’ve worked better than those “This is your brain on drugs” commercials.
  • Patricia Arquette’s debut film and it showed a bit because she was a bit stiff. But, she was new to the game. I can’t fault her too much. She isn’t Roseanna, after all.
  • Lawrence Fishbourne is in this one and he’s effective in his role.
  • Considering our nation’s health crisis, having a nasty, long-tongued nurse on staff doesn’t help matters. Call the union!
  • How about that Freddy snake sequence. I always think dirty thoughts with that scene. But, that’s just me. Right?
  • Sad to see you go, Nancy. That’ll do, girl. That’ll do.
  • “Nightmare on Elm Street 2” still bites.

Rent the film, along with the other great sequels and the original, and enjoy!

8 out 10

Fun Facts About “ANOES: Dream Warriors”: 1) Heather Langenkamp returned in “Wes Craven’s New Nightmare” as herself with Wes Craven directing and 2) Queensland, Australia banned this film due to the drug references. However, in 1990, the ban was withdrawn.

Dream Warrrioooorrrrs!
